In 2026, numerous first- and second-tier cities across the country launched demonstration projects for flexible DC distribution networks in their central urban areas. Flexible DC smart electrical equipment—designed to accommodate bidirectional power flow and multi-source grid integration—is seeing large-scale demonstration applications, with DC distribution cabinets, flexible converter modules, and AC/DC hybrid distribution cabinets have become core equipment in the renovation of aging urban power grids, resolving long-standing challenges such as voltage fluctuations, excessive harmonics, and insufficient power supply reliability caused by the high-density grid integration of distributed solar power and charging stations in urban areas. Traditional urban distribution grids primarily rely on unidirectional AC power transmission.
